Outdoor Learning Cards – 1 Day (6 hours)
Outdoor Learning Cards is a tool to enable primary school staff undertake more work outside the classroom. The Outdoor Learning Cards activities contribute directly to a wide range of educational and development aims for young people and cover four elements of Outdoor Learning that can be delivered on a school/youth club site and surrounding environment:
Orienteering – developing map reading skills
Team Building and Problem Solving – how to challenge your teams
Bouldering – Use of low level climbing walls
Journeying – Local visits organised by young people
The Cards are supported by a Handbook and CD that provide detailed information on all aspects of activity delivery. All key elements for succcessful delivery are explored further in the 6 hour training course. The course provides an introduction to the use of this valuable educational resource pack. An OEAP recognised course.
Please note that training by itself does not deliver competence. Competent leaders and staff provide the school with confidence that they understand clearly how they might need to adapt their approach to deal with “hic-cups” e.g. security alerts, travel disruptions etc. Competence comprises relevant experience, training and common sense. We would encourage schools to clearly understand the importance of developing the experience of their school staff.
